Valentine's_Day_Red_Rose_In_The_Shape_Of_A_Heart_With_Love_Is_In_The_Details_In_The_Middle

Everyone knows that I love sending cards to people. Not e-cards, but rather the old-fashioned greeting cards that you receive in the mail.

Every day when I go to my mailbox I’m barraged with bills, magazines that I never read, and junk mail. My particular pet peeve is receiving discount offers from auto-insurance companies. I’m born and raised in NYC. I never have and most likely never will own a car. From what list did they get my information? Simply annoying!

My love affair with cards began when I was a child. I was always so excited to receive a card in the mail. They always made me smile. By the way, they still do.

As an adult, I thought to myself “if they make me smile then maybe they make others smile as well.”

So I started sending them for birthdays, holidays, and Valentine’s Day. I would search for days for the perfect card.

Many years ago, while on a quest, I discovered Papyrus. I walked into a store and OMG—I was hooked!

The cards are simply stunning. Some have texture, some have bling, and some have 3-D elements. And they all seem to convey the precise emotion that I want to express.

After sending a few, I started receiving calls from people who wanted to thank me for the beautiful cards. It made me realize that I was making people happy.

Now people tell me that they look forward to my cards and that they can’t throw them away. One friend said, “You have a real talent for this.”

Now, Papyrus isn’t for the faint-of-heart. Cards can cost eight dollars or more.

I don’t think of them as expensive cards, but rather as inexpensive presents that people receive in the mail.

So this Valentine’s Day—stop by a Papyrus store or shop online (Papyrusonline) and see if you can find the perfect card for the love of your life. However, don’t forget about mom, siblings, and friends.

Four keys to selecting the perfect card are:
1. Time
2. Thought
3. Persistence
4. Wow Factor

You must plan ahead!
Valentine’s Day is only 2 weeks away. You don’t want to be the person who waits until the day before to start shopping. By then, it’s too late. All of the best cards are gone and you’re left scavenging through the sparse card rack reading the leftovers.

Love is in the details!
It’s not about you. When I’m doing personal shopping for gifts, my clients typically begin the conversation by saying “well I like this.” At that moment I interject and say, “I keep hearing the word “I” but you haven’t told me what the gift recipient wants or likes.” Ask yourself, what is her dominant personality? Is she spunky, chic or traditional? Does she love to travel? Is she a diva? Once you think it through, you’ll get a sense of what would be the most appropriate card.

Avoid the lazy syndrome!
You don’t get a high-five. You did a great job if you thought, well I spent more than five minutes on searching for a card. I did my best. No! Did you really do your best or are you trying to absolve yourself for not giving it 100% effort? If you don’t find the perfect one in the first store then move on to the next. Repeat the process until you’ve nailed it.

Make it memorable!
Ask yourself, is this a keepsake? Will she want to keep the card past February 14th? If the answer is no, then keep looking. You want her to say “wow”, this card is beautiful.

Are you reading through this list and still puzzled as to how to find the perfect Valentine’s Day card for your beloved, best friend, or relative? If you are uncertain how to choose a good card, or simply don’t have the time, you’re in luck.

Personal shopping is what I do best! Contact me. I will help you find the perfect Valentine’s Day card. Let me focus on the details so you can focus on the love.

Expert Tip: You want the card to arrive at least five days before Valentine’s Day.
Why, you might ask? Because you are giving the recipient five days of love.
